Dress Rehearsal
& Show Details
Dear Dance House Families,
We are so excited for Storybook Spectacular! Please read or LISTEN HERE through all of the information below carefully, as it contains important details regarding dress rehearsal, check-in, performances, and pick-up procedures.
RECITAL LOCATION
Courtyard Theater
1509 H Ave
Plano, TX 75074
Parking is available in both the front and back of the theater. The back parking lot is much larger and is recommended. Please enter through the side doors located between the Courtyard Theater and Cox Playhouse.
TECH & DRESS REHEARSAL
Please arrive dressed and ready in your FIRST costume at least 10 minutes before your scheduled rehearsal time.
One adult must remain with your dancer(s) during dress rehearsal, except for dancers ages 10 and older. If you choose to drop off a dancer age 10+, please ensure they are responsible, respectful, and able to manage their costumes and belongings independently and know they are to be in the theater waiting to hear for their turn and dance on time.
During rehearsal, the adult(s) who bring the dancer(s) will sit in the audience. Dancers will be called to the stage for their rehearsal, then return to their seats to change if needed and wait for their next number or be dismissed. Because our rehearsal time is limited, please be prepared to move quickly when your dancer is called. Have proper undergarments on so that you can quickly change right there in the theater. We will have to move quickly.
Please bring all costumes organized in a labeled paper bag or similar with DANCER NAME & CLASS written on it.

After check-in, dancers will remain backstage for the duration of the show. Parent & Me dancers are the only exception.
Please have dancers use the restroom before checking in whenever possible.
BACKSTAGE INFORMATION
To ensure a smooth production, dancers will remain backstage for the entire performance, even after they have danced.
Dancers will not be released after their individual routines and will not be seated in the audience during the show. Backstage, dancers will be able to watch the performance on TVs with live audio from the theater and also have other small activities available (BIG thanks to our donations!!)
At the conclusion of each show, all dancers will return to the stage for the final bow and group photo and need to be picked up promptly so our staff and volunteers can prepare for the next show.
PICK-UP PROCEDURES
Following the final bow and group photo, dancers will be released from backstage at the check-in table with their bag and all items.
To pick up your dancer, simply return the dancer pick-up card you received at check-in. You can give to any family/friend to pick up but dancers will only be released with the person with the card.
For the safety of all dancers, please do not attempt to pick up your dancer before the performance has ended.
Our volunteers will have emergency contact information for all dancers. In addition, all dressing room volunteers have completed background checks and have a 2 adult rule in the dressing room areas.
BETWEEN SHOWS
All dancers must be checked out following the 3:00 PM performance.
Please pick up promptly so our Volunteers can reset the dressing room and prepare for the next show.
Families are welcome to leave between shows and return for the evening performance.
Dancers must be checked back in at 5:15 PM the same way as they did for the 3PM show to be ready for the 6PM performance.
CONCESSIONS & DINNER
Concessions will be available throughout the day and will include snacks and drinks.
For families staying between performances, we will also be offering a Jason's Deli meal option that will be delivered at 4:30PM between shows. If you would like to order a meal you can purchase here:
https://gameday.jasonsdeli.com/app/events/MZMHYVUW9Y
This is not a fundraiser and are their prices–we just wanted to add an option for convenience if needed. You are welcome to bring in any food or leave if you have enough time. There is also a beautiful park across the street to relax/hang out at.
ADDITIONAL REMINDERS
• Bring a labeled water bottle with lid containing water only. Please try to send one that does not spill easily. We want to avoid getting costumes wet so we will not have bottled water for the kids but will have gallon jugs for volunteers to refill water bottles.
• Avoid messy snacks that could stain costumes. We will have some available. Please notify us of allergies or food restrictions.
• Do not bring valuables backstage.
• Make sure all costume pieces, shoes, and belongings are clearly labeled.
• Please try to make sure your dancers are well rested and have food in their tummies between shows.
We are incredibly proud of all our dancers and cannot wait to share Storybook Spectacular with your families and friends! Thank you for helping make recital day run smoothly!
See you at the theater!
